Join Our Team: North Central IPM Center is Hiring

The North Central Integrated Pest Management (NCIPM) Center at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Partnership and Engagement Extension Specialist. This Professional & Scientific position will help strengthen partnerships, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and communicate research-based integrated pest management information across the North Central Region and nationally.

The specialist will work with NCIPM Center directors and regional partners to develop and facilitate networks involving land-grant universities, Extension programs, federal and state agencies, commodity organizations, professional societies, industry, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders. The position will help identify emerging needs and opportunities, connect partners with expertise and resources, and support collaborative Extension and educational initiatives.

The position also will develop science-based communications and educational materials that demonstrate the value and impact of IPM research, Extension, and implementation. Responsibilities include translating scientific and technical information for a variety of audiences and developing materials such as websites, newsletters, annual reports, impact statements, briefing materials, fact sheets, and presentations.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree or experience in crop science, horticulture, entomology, pathology, IPM, plant health, agricultural Extension, science communication, or partnership development. Occasional travel is required.

This is a full-time, 12-month, fixed-term position based at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. The appointment has an end date of June 30, 2028, with the opportunity for renewal. The application deadline is October 11, 2026.
