Apply for Funding

The North Central Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Center awards funding up to $300,000 each year through its Critical Issue and Working Group grants. Applications for critical issues and working group projects should support the Center’s priorities. These priorities, which are based upon the Center’s Signature programs, are reviewed annually by regional stakeholders.

Applications must be submitted online and are due by Friday, November 17, 2023, at 6:00 pm ET/5:00 pm CT. Learn more about these projects below.

Critical Issue Grants

Competitive proposals are solicited for critical issues that address information, resource, and research needs with regional importance to minor crops, major crops, non-crop areas, IPM metrics and/or impact assessments, urban IPM, forestry, cropping systems, resistance management, advanced genetic tools and IPM, school IPM, tribal IPM and other issues. The Critical Issue grant opportunity is designed to provide one-time seed funding to help initiate work requiring immediate attention until other longer-term resources can be secured to address the issue.

Working Group Grants

Working Groups grants support collaboration among diverse groups to address a regional IPM priority. Working group project directors must be located within the region, but team members may reside outside the North Central region.

A working group may

  • Focus on a specific crop or a specific pest
  • Focus on providing educational materials or increasing outreach
  • Work to increase collaboration  with underserved audiences, such as tribal nations
  • Coordinate efforts to develop proposals for additional funding to address critical issues within the North Central region.
