The University of Nebraska Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Research and Extension Director (ARED), for the Northeast, Southeast, and Metro extension districts within the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center at the University of Nebraska Agriculture Research and Development Center (ARDC). These administrative positions report to the Director of the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center. The ARED for the Northeast district provides leadership for the Haskell Ag Lab, the Barta Brothers Ranch and 28 counties and will be located at the Haskell Agriculture Laboratory near Concord. The ARED for the Southeast will be located at the ARDC near Ithaca, and will provide leadership for 19 counties. The ARED for the Metro district will be located in Omaha or at ARDC and will provide leadership for six counties, which include the Omaha and Lincoln metropolitan areas. Faculty rank and tenure will be available to interested candidates with a terminal degree and appropriate academic accomplishments. The successful candidate for each ARED position will develop and implement a robust and relevant vision for the district that delivers high impact educational programs from innovative and integrated research and extension, and serve as a change agent to evolve programs, resources, and human capacity. The ARED will engage leaders and organizations in the district and beyond to identify forward-looking opportunities to advance district and state priorities. Required qualifications are Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a discipline or field relevant to the diverse research and extension work at the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center. Significant and successful extension and/or research experience. Administrative experience including direct supervision of staff budgets, expenditures, and program development preferred.
