Pest Alerts

The Center creates pest alerts to help with insects, diseases and weeds that pose a threat to human heath, the environment or to food production in the United States. Check out the full list on the Pest Alert page. Pest alerts are archived as new resources become available. The Pest Alert Archive page includes links to pest-specific resources.

Pest Management Strategic Plans and Crop Profiles

Pest Management Strategic Plans (PMSPs) document current pest-management issues and practices in a particular crop, and set priorities for research, regulation and education. They are developed during collaborations between growers, commodity associations, researchers, crop consultants and others. Most PMSPs focus on a single commodity in a particular region and use a pest-by-pest approach to document current management practices and those under development. PMSPs for non-agricultural settings address the unique pest management conditions and challenges of the setting. Pest Management Strategic Plans – This alphabetical list is also keyword searchable (click here for PSMP guidelines).

Crop Profiles are snapshots of crop production practices for agricultural commodities. Crop Profiles – Searchable by region, crop or state (crop profile guidelines are also available).

Preparing for Changes to Pesticide Rules

Rules for pesticide use are being revised to meet the requirements of the Endangered Species Act. This dedicated webpage, “Preparing for EPA Changes to Pesticide Rules; Protection for Endangered Species,” provides a summary of what is changing, along with a list of resources to help answer your questions.
