Seeking a 12 month Post-doctoral Associate in the IPM / Biological Control lab of Dr. Paula Shrewsbury, Department of Entomology, University of Maryland.
This position is part of a national effort to manage the invasive brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) with opportunities for networking and Extension. Studies will focus on the role of native natural enemies in the biological control of BMSB, native and exotic parasitoid interactions, and measures to enhance the biological control impact of natural enemies. The project will combine laboratory experiments with on-farm and research station studies.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in entomology, agro-ecology or closely related field; strong statistical abilities and writing skills; ability to work independently; driver’s license; publication track-record; preference for biological control research experience.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate must be very independent. The post-doc will be responsible for: 1) designing research protocols and conducting biological control lab and field experiments, 2) data analysis, 3) supervising undergraduate students, 4) writing up existing research data and on-going research for publication, and 5) presenting results at extension and professional settings.
Compensation: $40,000/yr plus full benefit package
Duration: 12 months, starting as soon as possible (ASAP)
