Head of NIFA endorses rap video about mosquitoes and viruses they vector

Dr. Sonny Ramaswamy, Director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture at the U. S. Department of Agriculture is endorsing a rap video on mosquitoes and the viruses they vector.

He said “many of you have been hearing about finding Ades aegypti and Aedes albopictus, the vectors of Zika, Dengue, Chikungunya, etc., in various parts of America. We are starting to see local transmission of the virus in many parts of the US, particularly the southeast, and yet m any residents in those areas seem to be completely oblivious of the connection between habitat, mosquitoes, viruses, etc.”

The wildlife biologist for Fairfax County, VA, Andy Lima, AKA MC Bugg-Z, while thinking of how to come up with a way to increase awareness among the residents of Fairfax Co., came up with a rap about mosquitoes and the virus.
