Rights of Way Habitat event has seats available

Dear Rights-of-Way as Habitat Working Group Participants and Supporters:

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is preparing to launch a National Pollinator Initiative that will advance the science and strategies of pollinator conservation efforts by electric power companies in the United States. The Energy Resources Center at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) is also continuing to facilitate the Rights-of-Way as Habitat Working Group to promote pollinator habitat on rights-of-way and other lands managed by utility and transportation organizations. While at a high level there is some overlapping scope, the unique roles of EPRI and UIC create important opportunities for these two efforts to work together and elevate the value of you as participants.

EPRI already works deeply with power companies and will focus on advancing pollinator efforts of electric power companies, which include ownership, safety, and operational issues specific to power operations. EPRI is open to sharing results of its learning with other industries, such as the UIC Rights-of-Way Habitat Working Group. UIC is working successfully with a diversity of industries, can advance projects that are of interest with its diverse industry participants, and can quickly enable the application of information that may materialize from the EPRI research. There may also be opportunities to pool resources, when appropriate, to mobilize rapid implementation of specific projects, meetings, or tools.

While specifics are still being worked out, both EPRI and UIC are interested in working together to efficiently utilize time and resources. We are writing to let you know of our shared commitment to work cooperatively to advance our common objectives related to advancing pollinator habitat conservation.

Rights-of-Way as Habitat Working Group meeting on May 3 – 4, which still has seats available. We will be participating in and supporting both events. We would like to discuss with you the possibility of having these two workshops co-located/co-hosted in Spring of 2018. In the meantime, EPRI will serve on the steering committee for the Rights-of-Way as Habitat Working Group to help ensure synergy between our efforts.

We are excited to make this announcement and welcome any questions, feedback, or concerns you may have. Please feel free to contact either or both of us directly.
