The Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity and the Zwick Center for Food & Resource
Policy at the University of Connecticut invite applications for a postdoctoral fellow position beginning August 23, 2016 or as negotiated. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the research mission of the centers in at least one of the following areas: food marketing, food insecurity, consumer food and beverage choices, nutrition, and health disparities. This is a full time, annually renewable position.
The postdoctoral fellow will work under the supervision of Professor Marlene Schwartz,
Director of the Rudd Center, and Professor Rigoberto Lopez, Director of the Zwick Center.
Responsibilities will include collection of quantitative and qualitative data; analysis of
secondary data; and preparation of literature reviews, grants, and scientific papers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in economics (including agricultural economics or applied economics),
psychology, public health, statistics, or a related discipline;
Research experience in the fields of food marketing, consumer choices, federal food
programs, and/or food and nutrition policy;
Strong analytical and statistical skills, including multivariate analyses and/or
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates whose research interests intersect with those of supervising faculty;
Expertise using statistical software, such as STATA, MATLAB, and/or SAS;
 Competency managing and analyzing large databases with complex design structures
(experience with supermarket scanner data particularly valuable);
 Ability to work independently;
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
Experience presenting research to a range of audiences.
